OSSD Registration & Documentation

Once the student admission has been completed, we follow the Ontario Registration process to complete enrollment.

Throughout the program, we report on the student according to Ministry policies and timelines.

We register the student with the Ministry of Education and assign an Ontario Education Number (OEN).

The student’s OEN will be used throughout their Canadian education journey.

The Ontario Student Record (OSR) is the official academic file maintained under Ministry of Education regulations. It contains a student’s complete academic history within the Ontario system. This record includes enrollment details, credit history, report cards, assessments, and other required documentation. The OSR is confidential, standardized, and recognized across all Ontario schools. Sunray Academy maintains and safeguards each student’s OSR in full compliance with Ontario regulations, ensuring continuity, transparency, and academic integrity.

PLAR is the formal Ontario process used to evaluate a student’s prior learning and academic history from outside Canada. For international students, this ensures that previously completed coursework is accurately recognized within the Ontario system. Through PLAR, eligible credits may be granted based on transcripts, curriculum alignment, and demonstrated learning outcomes. This allows students to avoid repeating content they have already mastered and to progress efficiently toward graduation. At Sunray Academy, PLAR is conducted carefully and conservatively to protect students’ academic standing and ensure long-term university eligibility.

The Ontario Student Transcript (OST) is the official academic transcript issued under the authority of the Ontario Ministry of Education. It records all successfully completed secondary school credits, final grades, and diploma status. Universities and colleges worldwide recognize the OST as an official Canadian academic document. It is the primary record used for university admissions in Canada, the United States, the UK, Europe, and beyond. Sunray Academy issues OSTs in full compliance with Ministry standards, ensuring students graduate with globally trusted documentation. ↗

Ontario report cards provide formal evaluations of student progress throughout each course. They follow Ministry-approved formats and include achievement levels, percentages, learning skills, and teacher feedback. Report cards are issued at defined intervals and reflect a student’s academic development over time—not just final exam results. This aligns with Ontario’s emphasis on continuous assessment and skill-based learning. Parents and students receive clear, transparent reporting that supports academic growth and university readiness.

The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) is the official high school diploma granted by the Ontario Ministry of Education. It is one of the most widely recognized and respected secondary school qualifications globally. To earn the OSSD, students must complete 30 credits, fulfill the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Requirement, and complete community involvement hours, all under Ministry regulations. Graduates of Sunray Academy receive the same diploma as students studying in Ontario, Canada—opening direct pathways to top universities worldwide.
